OrganicKids Academy Daycare

OrganicKids Academy is a 7,000 SF, two-level early childhood education facility in Flushing, Queens, designed to serve up to 167 children. Design Innovations for Architecture (DIA) provided full architectural and interior design services and served as Architect of Record for the project. The facility is organized to support different age groups through clearly defined yet connected environments. A dedicated nursery occupies the first floor, providing a calm and secure setting for infants and toddlers with age-appropriate classrooms, support spaces, and direct, code-compliant egress.

The second floor spans the full building footprint and is designed as a comprehensive daycare level with multiple classrooms, shared restrooms, staff and support spaces, and an indoor recreation area. Classrooms throughout the facility feature specialty flooring designed to cushion impact, enhancing comfort and safety during daily activities and play. Lighting was thoughtfully designed to create even, glare-free, and softly bright spaces that support visual comfort and help maintain healthy day–night rhythms for children. Generous windows, open sightlines, and intuitive circulation further enhance natural light, supervision, and flexibility. Across both levels, the design combines child-scaled proportions, durable finishes, and playful elements within a carefully planned framework that meets the functional and regulatory requirements of a licensed daycare facility.
