Kinship Coffee, New York, NY

Architect of record and interior designer for a 900-square-foot artisan coffee shop located in the historic South Street Seaport district. The design takes cues from the area's maritime heritage and mid-century craftsmanship, interpreted through a clean and contemporary minimalist approach.

Custom walnut shelving features softly rounded oblong openings inspired by ship windows, framing retail items and curated objects. The shelving gently curves around the corner and integrates natural bamboo rattan screens on cabinet fronts, adding warmth, texture, and a handcrafted quality.

A sculpted walnut espresso bar continues this flowing language across the space and connects to a built-in walnut banquette, creating a continuous gesture that guides circulation and anchors the interior. Terrazzo floor tiles with circular inlays complement the organic geometry and add material richness. The result is a warm, refined environment that feels connected to the historic district while remaining quietly modern and timeless.
